K. D. Hafley
K.D. Hafley is native of Texas. She grew up creating art and pursued formal education in art at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1990. After graduation, she pursued a career in the art gallery business in Chicago and San Diego. She returned to the Dallas area in 2003, and now resides in McKinney, where she has played a significant role in the arts community as a teacher, and professional artist. In 2013 she won a Purchase Prize in the Unique by Nature Juried Art Competition, and her work is now part of the City of McKinney’s public art collection on permanent display at the McKinney Performing Arts Center. In addition to pieces she paints for gallery sales and shows, she accepts commissions for custom paintings.
K.D. has loved animals all of her life, and through her imagery she shows their essence as the wonderful, beautiful creatures that they are. She believes that whether an animal is wild and exotic or just an everyday pet or domestic animal, he or she is a unique creature with a unique essence. K.D.'s passion and goal as an artist is to capture that essence and share it with those who view her work.
