Chris Hoover
Painter, Assemblage Artist
Chris Hoover’s early work was primarily figurative impressionist pastels which he practiced for several years. Later while exploring traditional still life and landscape paintings he began incorporating found objects, abstraction and surrealism. For several years prior to his current body of work he used found objects, and collage in assemblages. He has embraced his multidisciplinary nature in figurative, surrealist, mixed media paintings which sometimes use found objects, commercial signage or furniture as a canvas. The subject matter is human society and emotions, and spiritual realms in a cartoon style which distances the viewer from scenes of death, fear, danger or horror. American, b. 1955, Hot Springs, Arkansas, based in McKinney, Texas.
