Kevin Megison

Painter, Graphic Designer

Kevin earned his BA in Applied Art from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1973. It was during those years at university that he was introduced to abstract expressionism. He would circle back to abstract one day.
Kevin began his professional career as an illustrator and production artist in ad agencies throughout Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. He worked on national accounts such as World Vision, World Concern and U.S. Home. Kevin would, along this lengthy career path, work closely with illustrators, photographers and graphic designers developing his own keen creative vision and style. Discipline and a strong work ethic earned Kevin the honor and title of Employee of the Year while managing an art department in the early 1990”s.
Reinventing his skill sets were necessary as commercial art production shifted from conventional to digital. Forty years of meeting deadlines, adhering to graphic standards and endless creative expectations came to a close in 2014. Long awaited retirement brought about the opportunity to revisit and reignite his interest in creating abstract art.
Recently, he seems to have found some traction as one of his paintings was included in the Art Folio Annual 2020. He also received a commission to paint ten original works to be on display in the Pittman Hotel in south Dallas. He was the artist in residence at Serendipity Labs, Hall Park in Frisco Texas. Prior to that his work was displayed at Frisco Fine Art Gallery, the Gallery 8680 in Frisco, LAST Art Gallery in McKinney and the TVAA Gallery in the Arts District downtown Dallas. He currently has his artwork on display at The Cove in McKinney, TX. One other accomplishment worth noting is that one of his abstract paintings was accepted into the first Envision Arts Exhibit International Artists and included in An Experience of Art article in the Spring 2019 issue of Dallas Style & Design magazine.
