Coppitral: When Copper Meets the Tropics

Kathleen Mekailek’s inspiration comes from the small coastal town in Texas where she lives, works, and finds beauty in the smallest of things. Through her sculptures, she merges nature with man-made, turning what is small into something larger, and offering to others the opportunity to experience these treasures as she does. Her use of fire to bring out the copper patinas further enhances the artwork and its setting in natural materials.
